Rob Rausch reveals why he finally went public with his secret girlfriend
Rausch insists he is a "simple person" who values privacy
Rob Rausch, the 27-year-old winner of The Traitors season 4, has opened up about the delicate balance between reality television fame and personal privacy.
During the show’s reunion on 26 February, Rausch surprised viewers by confirming he is in a relationship. Speaking to PEOPLE on Wednesday, he explained that the decision was driven by respect for his partner rather than a desire for publicity.
"I mean, I really never wanted to say that I had a girlfriend," Rausch admitted. "But, I didn't want her to feel like she was a secret and that I wasn't proud of her."
Despite the reveal, he remains protective of her identity, describing her as a "private person" who shares his desire to keep their "business" out of the public eye.
Interestingly, the pair met in a bookstore whilst Rausch was browsing for a European travel guide.
The champion is currently navigating a surge in "momentum", including a Tonight Show debut and a partnership with Crown Royal.
However, Rausch expressed a cautious attitude toward his newfound wealth and success. "I don't want to get stuck in the cycle of success and money because I really truly believe those things will destroy you as a person," he noted.
Showing a generous spirit, Rausch has already purchased a burgundy Hermès Birkin bag as an apology gift for runner-up Maura Higgins.
He confirmed that his girlfriend is entirely supportive of the gesture, saying "she said that Maura deserves it."
