Lewis Hamilton jokes he needs ‘six months’ to pick wedding gift for Charles Leclerc
The Formula 1 champion says he usually waits months before choosing the perfect wedding present
Lewis Hamilton has revealed why he hasn’t yet given a wedding gift to his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, admitting he tends to take his time when it comes to choosing presents.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton said he still hasn’t picked out a gift for Leclerc following the driver’s recent marriage.
“I’ve never been married, so I definitely haven’t given him any advice,” Hamilton joked, adding that he also hasn’t yet bought the newlywed a present.
According to the seven-time Formula 1 champion, this delay is part of a personal habit when it comes to gift-giving.
“I usually delay myself when it comes to gifts like that, so maybe six months in I’ll give it to him,” Hamilton explained.
Leclerc, 28, recently married his longtime partner, Alexandra Saint Mleux in a civil ceremony held in Monaco on Feb. 28. The couple shared highlights from the intimate celebration on Instagram the following day.
Among the clips posted was a moment from the ceremony showing Leclerc placing a wedding band on Saint Mleux’s finger before sharing a kiss.
Another video captured the newlyweds driving through scenic streets in a rare red Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, which served as their getaway car.
The pair also posted a series of photos from their wedding day, including images of them embracing on a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and holding hands during the celebration.
While Hamilton has yet to deliver a physical gift, Leclerc joked during his own press conference that he already has something in mind.
“Well, in six months’ time it will be the end of the season,” Leclerc said with a smile. “So probably a title will be nice.”
The lighthearted comment referred to the Formula One championship, a prize Hamilton is unlikely to hand over easily.
Leclerc and Saint-Mleux first sparked dating rumors in March 2023 before confirming their relationship later that year.
The couple announced their engagement in November 2025 and have since frequently shared glimpses of their life together.
