An Ohio man has been arrested and charged with murder months after his wife was found fatally stabbed in their home, authorities confirmed.

Rachel Long, 32, was discovered dead in her London, Ohio, residence on October 23, 2025, after her husband, 35-year-old Kyle Long, reportedly called 911 to report a suicide.

According to an arrest warrant reviewed by People, Kyle allegedly told police that Rachel had stabbed herself multiple times in the face and neck after returning home from work.

Authorities arriving at the scene found Rachel lying in a pool of blood, with knife wounds to her hand that an autopsy later identified as defensive injuries.

The autopsy confirmed that Rachel died from at least 17 sharp force injuries.

Investigators determined that Rachel showed no signs of intending to harm herself.

Text messages reviewed by police from Rachel’s friend, Madison Myers—the last person she texted before her death—showed no indication of distress. The two had been discussing what Rachel would wear to a concert the following day.

“She was excited to leave,” Rachel’s best friend, Brittany Mattox, told 4WWL. “She was making new relationships and friendships and looking forward to a new adventure as a solo single mom.”

Kyle Long became a suspect after investigators noted inconsistencies in his accounts of the events and statements that did not match the crime scene.

Authorities have not released an alleged motive, though the warrant stated Rachel had requested a separation.

Rachel, a mother of two, owned a pet grooming and boarding business and was active in dog rescue efforts.

Her obituary described her as an avid reader and a lover of rock concerts.

Kyle Long appeared for his arraignment on Friday, with a judge setting bond at $1.5 million.

His lawyer, Sam Shamansky, told ABC 6 that Kyle denies any involvement in Rachel’s death. “He has continuously maintained he did not cause her death, and he maintains that today,” Shamansky said. “It's a horrible, tragic event, for which he bears no responsibility, only sorrow.”
