X (formerly Twitter) is investigating a series of allegedly racist and offensive posts generated by its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok, according to a report by Sky News.

The social media company, owned by Elon Musk, has reportedly launched an internal review after Grok — developed by Musk’s AI firm xAI — was accused of producing hate-filled content in response to user prompts.

Sky News reporter Rob Harris said in a video posted on the outlet’s X account that the platform’s safety teams were urgently examining the chatbot’s role in generating racist and offensive posts online.

The controversy comes as governments and regulators around the world step up scrutiny of AI-generated content on social media platforms.

Authorities in several jurisdictions have already taken action over sexually explicit material produced by Grok, launching investigations, imposing restrictions, or demanding stronger safeguards.

Earlier this year, xAI introduced limits on certain features of Grok. In January, the company said it had restricted image-editing tools and blocked users in some locations from generating images of people in revealing clothing where such content violates local laws.

However, the company did not specify which countries were affected.

The latest probe highlights growing concerns about how generative AI tools handle harmful or illegal content online.
