Boy George reveals he has written five albums using artificial intelligence

Boy George has revealed that he is embracing artificial intelligence to revolutionise his creative process, claiming to have already written "like, five albums" using the technology.

Speaking on the Happy Place podcast on 2 March, the 64-year-old Culture Club frontman described AI as a "brilliant" tool that has significantly enhanced his capabilities as a lyricist.

He dismissed fears regarding the technology’s rise, suggesting that those worried about being replaced by robots may not be "trying hard enough."

The singer detailed how AI allowed him to transcend cultural and linguistic barriers, specifically for his track "I Am Iran."

By using the technology to translate his "very British" writing style into Persian, he achieved results he found deeply interesting.

George also praised the solitary nature of the work, noting he enjoys "fantastic conversations" with ChatGPT to refine his verses.

"An artist like me, they try to force you to work in an old-fashioned way. I’m ahead of them," he asserted.

His stance comes amidst a growing divide in the music industry. While legends like Liza Minnelli have defended AI-assisted arrangements, others, such as SZA, have expressed concerns over "stereotypical" AI-generated content and its impact on artists' livelihoods.

The debate follows a landmark moment in November when an AI-generated track topped the Billboard Country charts.

Despite the controversy, Boy George remains undeterred, viewing the digital shift as a natural evolution for a modern artist.

He is currently on tour with Culture Club, with dates scheduled through the end of March.
