Teen vanishes on vacation, found dead days later after motorcycle crash
A teenager became separated from his family during their vacation in Malaysia
A 19-year-old who disappeared on a family holiday in Malaysia was found dead, seeming to have been in a motorcycle accident.
Ahmad Azreeq Zafreen Ahmad Azhar, age 19, was declared missing on Friday (March 6), as noted by Free Malaysia Today and New Straits Times.
Authorities reported that the last sighting of the teenager occurred at a gas station in Beting Lintang, where he paused early Friday en route to Cameron Highlands, as mentioned by Bernama, a Malaysian government news agency.
Azreeq’s remains were discovered in shrubbery along a road in Kampung Bukit Jeruk at approximately 6:40pm local time on Sunday (March 8), as informed by Besut police chief Rozaime Ab Rahim to Bernama.
The police chief explained it is believed the young man died the night after vanishing, “after his Yamaha R15 motorcycle skidded” off the road.
Ahmad Azhar Mohamad Yusof, the teenager’s father, stated the family grew worried when they couldn’t reach Azreeq the night he went missing, as reported by New Straits Times.
His father recounted that Azreeq, the eldest of five siblings, was trailing the family’s car on his Yamaha R15 bike when they paused at the gas station in Saujana.
However, reports suggest that he somehow became separated from the family and never reached their intended location.
Security footage from the location captured Azreeq inside roughly around 1:38 a.m. local time on Friday, as reported by the official news agency.
The public notified the authorities about a man's body found next to a motorcycle in Bukit Jeruk on Sunday evening.
