Kentucky Man Charged After Wife Beaten to Death, Found Covered in Blood by Police

Authorities in Kentucky say a 67-year-old man has been charged after allegedly beating his wife so severely that she was “unrecognizable.”

Richard Chesher is facing charges including murder, domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of his wife, Bonnie Chesher, at their Mt. Washington home.

Police responded to the residence Friday night at approximately 9:09 p.m. and reportedly found Chesher covered in blood near an open garage door.

Officers said Bonnie Chesher’s body was on the garage floor, and her face and head had sustained extreme trauma.

Investigators allege a trail of blood inside the home indicated the location of the attack, before Bonnie’s body was moved to the garage.

Authorities reportedly discovered a club-like object covered in what appeared to be blood, believed to have been used in the assault.

A pickup truck was backed up to the garage, with boards arranged as a ramp from the garage floor to the truck bed.

Bonnie Chesher had been wrapped in a garden hose near the ramp, leading investigators to suspect Chesher may have been preparing to move her body.

Chesher was scheduled for arraignment on Monday, March 9. Neighbors described the incident as “concerning” and expressed shock at the violence in the typically quiet community.

The Mt. Washington Police Department said in a social media statement that it will not release additional details while the investigation continues, citing respect for the families involved. Authorities emphasized that the incident does not pose a threat to public safety.
