Check out this initial scene from Cruyff, the series by Box to Box spotlighting Dutch soccer icon Johan Cruyff.

Crafted by the Formula 1: Drive to Survive creators, this four-part documentary boasts perspectives from soccer giants like Pep Guardiola, Xavi Hernández, Dennis Bergkamp, and Ruud Gullit.

This segment features Guardiola, inspired by Cruyff, alongside his esteemed mentor.

Box to Box has partnered with Dutch company Lusus for this project. The filmmakers secured rare access to the Cruyff family's personal archives, including unseen home videos and deeply personal audio journals recorded by Cruyff during his final months.

These recordings, previously unnoticed, offer a narrative backbone for the documentary, with the sports legend reflecting on his life.

For the first time, Cruyff's lifelong partner Danny, along with children Jordi, Chantal, and Susila, openly discuss his life outside of soccer.

Jordi Cruyff expressed, “For many years, our family stayed out of the public eye regarding Johan’s private life. This series allowed us to narrate his story more fully and share the man we knew with the global audience.”

One of the footballing greats, Cruyff, who passed away in 2016, significantly impacted the sport. He clinched the esteemed Ballon d’Or thrice while playing for European powerhouses Ajax and Barcelona and captained the Netherlands national team. His illustrious managerial career included coaching stints at Ajax and Barca.

“Cruyff transformed football, but what intrigued us was how his ideas transcended the sport, challenging us to perceive the known in innovative ways,” remarked Sam Blair, the series Director. “With unparalleled access to his family, their private materials, and the recordings he made towards the end of his life, we unveiled the revolutionary man and narrated the story of a visionary who defied norms and whose thoughts still influence the world today.”
