Jack Antonoff has revisited the atmospheric and occasionally chaotic events of his 2023 wedding to actress Margaret Qualley in a new musical release.

The track, titled ‘dirty wedding dress’, was released on Tuesday as the second lead single from the band Bleachers’ forthcoming album, everyone for ten minutes.

The 41-year-old frontman uses the song to address the intense public scrutiny and unwanted attention that famously surrounded their August nuptials on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.

The lyrics vividly describe the measures taken to preserve the couple’s privacy against wedding crashers and intrusive technology.

“We had to board up all the windows and shoot out the drones,” Antonoff sings, later adding, “Now only my people can see me/ Only my people come in.”

The star-studded event, attended by luminaries such as Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey, reportedly drew significant crowds of onlookers, a phenomenon Antonoff describes in the track as “interlopers” who forced the couple into a defensive posture to protect their intimate commitment.

Meeting Qualley reportedly transformed the musician’s outlook on life. “The second I met my partner a cynical part of me died—the very Jewish, analytical, endlessly-weighing-everything part,” he admitted.

Qualley has similarly expressed her devotion, stating, “I love my husband, my family,” and adding that she loves “anything Jack writes.”

Reflecting on the ceremony itself, Antonoff noted that despite the overwhelming attention, “it was just really beautiful.” Bleachers’ highly anticipated studio album is scheduled for global release on 22 May.
