LinkedIn is becoming an increasingly important source of information for artificial intelligence chatbots, according to new research examining how major AI platforms generate responses.

Recent studies analyzing outputs from tools such as ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Perplexity AI show that the professional networking site LinkedIn is now frequently cited when AI systems compile answers to user queries.

The findings suggest that professional discussions and expert commentary posted online are increasingly shaping how AI-powered search tools deliver information.

One study conducted by analytics platform SEMrush analyzed roughly 325,000 prompts submitted to major AI chatbots between January and February 2026.

Researchers found that Reddit remained the most commonly cited source in AI-generated responses.

LinkedIn ranked second, highlighting the growing influence of professional content in AI-driven information systems.

A separate analysis by data-tracking platform Profound examined chatbot citations between November 2025 and February 2026 and placed LinkedIn as the fifth most referenced website across all categories.

Just three months earlier, LinkedIn had not appeared among the top 20 sources cited by AI chatbots, indicating a rapid rise in its influence.

Researchers say the shift reflects how AI systems increasingly rely on credible, discussion-based content when generating answers related to business, careers and industry developments.

LinkedIn posts, professional insights and long-form articles are now frequently referenced by AI models as they compile responses to user questions.

The trend also highlights how the flow of information online is evolving as artificial intelligence becomes a more common entry point for digital searches.

According to a study by Eight Oh Two, many internet users are now starting their searches directly through AI-powered tools rather than traditional search engines.

This change is reshaping how information spreads across the web and which platforms become influential sources.

Experts say that websites hosting credible discussions and professional commentary are likely to gain greater visibility as AI-driven search and generative engine optimization continue to grow.
