Instagram tests clickable caption links for Meta Verified subscribers
A long-awaited feature finally arrives for a select group of Instagram creators
Instagram is reportedly testing a transformative new feature that allows Meta Verified subscribers to add clickable links directly within their post captions.
This development addresses one of the most persistent requests from creators, who have historically been restricted to sharing links via their profile biographies or temporary stories.
The absence of this functionality famously led to the rise of third-party "link in bio" services, but this latest update suggests a significant shift in how the platform manages external traffic.
The testing was first identified by blogger Andrea Valeria, who shared evidence of the interface allowing links to platforms such as Substack.
According to early reports, the feature includes a monthly cap, with messages indicating that users may add a maximum of ten links every thirty days.
Meta has confirmed the rollout to Engadget, specifically noting that the trial is currently limited to Meta Verified subscribers.
Interestingly, these links currently appear to be functional only on the mobile application, remaining invisible to those accessing the platform via web browsers.
This move aligns with a broader strategy to position enhanced connectivity as a premium service. Meta has previously experimented with link limitations on Facebook for non-verified accounts, and with subscription tiers ranging from $14.99 to $499.99 per month, the company is clearly leveraging high-demand tools to drive its paid ecosystem.
By enabling direct content sharing beyond the app's borders, Instagram is poised to fundamentally alter how creators interact with their audiences and monetise their digital presence.
