'Stranger Things' star Maya Hawke opens up about newlywed bliss with musician husband

Maya Hawke has happily embraced married life with musician Christian Lee Hutson after they tied the knot on Valentine's Day.

The 27-year-old actress and singer-songwriter wed Hutson, 35, on Feb. 14 in New York City in an intimate ceremony attended by family and close friends, including her famous parents, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, and her younger brother, Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke. 

Many of Hawke’s Stranger Things costars, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Joe Keery, were also present to celebrate the newlyweds.

Speaking to People at the premiere of her romantic comedy Wishful Thinking during the SXSW Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas, on March 12, Hawke described her marriage as “absolutely fantastic.”

“I’m a very, very lucky person who’s very happy right now,” she shared. “And yeah, couldn’t be more grateful.”

Hawke and Hutson first met while collaborating on music and were romantically linked in December 2023. 

The couple made their red carpet debut together in April 2025 at the Broadway opening night of John Proctor Is the Villain. Months later, Hawke was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger, fueling engagement rumors.

For their wedding, the couple opted for custom Prada ensembles, with Hawke in an elegant boat-neck dress with a voluminous skirt and Hutson in a classic tuxedo. 

The pair have also been seen performing together publicly since the wedding, including at the 2026 Tibet House U.S. Benefit Concert in New York City, where they performed and shared a cozy backstage moment.

Reflecting on dating a close friend before their marriage, Hawke previously told the Zach Sang Show, “It’s awesome. I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people, they really know you as a person who has feelings … not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto.”

Since their Valentine’s Day wedding, the couple appears more connected than ever, balancing music, acting, and their life together in the public eye.
