Colin Jost had a humorous response after becoming the punchline of a joke about his marriage to Scarlett Johansson during a recent episode of Saturday Night Live.

The moment unfolded during the March 14 “Weekend Update” segment, when Jost’s co-host Michael Che delivered a lighthearted jab while discussing winners of the annual Wife Carrying Race in England.

Referencing the unusual competition in which contestants run while carrying their partners, Che quipped that while a Finnish couple won the U.K. event, “the winner of the Husband Carrying contest was Scarlett Johansson.”

The joke prompted laughter from Che, while Jost paused with a mock look of outrage before responding with a playful comeback.

“We both put food on the table,” he said, before adding, “They’re different kinds of food.”

Jost and Johansson have been married since 2020 and frequently joke publicly about their relationship, often incorporating playful references to their marriage during comedy segments.

The latest exchange comes weeks after Jost joked about Johansson losing her title as the highest-grossing actress of all time to Zoe Saldaña.

During a January episode of Saturday Night Live, Jost humorously suggested Johansson’s box office total might drop if his own film earnings were included in the calculation.

The couple have previously leaned into such jokes on the show. In 2025, Johansson even appeared on the “Weekend Update” desk after Che and Jost’s annual joke swap led to a controversial punchline about her, turning the moment into another comedic exchange.

Johansson and Jost share a son, Cosmo, and their playful banter has become a recurring topic on the long-running NBC comedy show.
