Beyond its role in masking unpleasant odours, fragrance serves as a vital tool in interior design, capable of transforming the atmosphere of a private sanctuary.

Whilst first impressions are often focused on the living room, experts suggest that the bedroom requires a more diligent strategy to promote relaxation.

Ridhima Kansal, Director at Rosemoore, emphasises that a pleasant aroma adds an essential layer of comfort, allowing individuals to unwind effectively at the end of the day.

Creating a fragrant environment begins with fundamental hygiene rather than artificial sprays. Ms Kansal recommends a multi-faceted approach to maintain a fresh atmosphere:

  • Ventilation and sunlight: Opening windows for 30 minutes daily expels moisture. Ms Kansal suggested, “Open the windows for about 20-30 minutes each day, and the old air and moisture will be expelled.”
  • Linen maintenance: Bedding collects oils and sweat, requiring regular washing. Using lavender for a relaxing vibe or rose-infused oil for a romantic touch can enhance the sheets.
  • Aromatherapy: Utilising reed diffusers or essential oils like sandalwood for grounding or vanilla for a cosy, inviting ambience.
  • Targeting hidden spots: Odours often linger in carpets or laundry baskets. Ms Kansal recommended, “You can add 20*30 adjacent neutralised smells and vacuumed dried baking soda to your mattresses and carpets.”

Natural elements, such as indoor plants and bowls of potpourri, offer a sustainable alternative to chemical fresheners.

By addressing hidden dust and ensuring consistent airflow, homeowners can ensure their bedroom remains a serene, meditative space.
