Taylor Frankie Paul said she has cut off direct communication with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen as both remain under investigation in an alleged domestic assault case, describing their past relationship as an “addictive cycle.”

The reality TV personality, who stars in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, confirmed on March 17 that the pair currently have “no contact,” opting instead to communicate through a third party.

The arrangement includes handling logistics such as child pick-ups, drop-offs and essential communication.

Authorities in Utah previously confirmed that an open domestic assault investigation involves both Paul, 31, and Mortensen, 33, with allegations made “in both directions.”

Police said contact was established with the involved parties in late February.

Speaking ahead of her upcoming appearance on The Bachelorette, Paul said the decision to cut contact was necessary.

“That’s the best case,” she explained, noting that the relationship had reached a point where reconciliation was no longer viable.

Paul and Mortensen share a one-year-old son, Ever. She is also mother to daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5, from her previous marriage to Tate Paul.

Reflecting on their past, Paul acknowledged the intensity of the relationship. “It was absolutely an addictive cycle,” she said, adding that the dynamic no longer exists.

Despite the controversy, Paul has continued promoting her television projects, calling her decision to join The Bachelorette an “immediate yes” and a chance to step away from what she described as a “toxic” environment.

Still, the timing has cast a shadow over her latest premiere.

“It’s a heavy time,” Paul admitted, saying she has struggled emotionally while balancing public scrutiny with professional commitments. “It took everything to show up.”

The current investigation comes three years after a separate 2023 incident in which Paul was arrested following an argument with Mortensen.

At the time, she faced multiple charges, including assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child.

Most charges were later dismissed, while an aggravated assault charge remains subject to compliance conditions under a plea agreement.
