The upcoming second season of The Studio will directly address the loss of its beloved star Catherine O’Hara, according to co-creator Seth Rogen.

O’Hara, who died on Jan. 30 at age 71, played Patty Leigh, a powerful studio head and mentor figure in the series.

Her sudden passing has left a significant emotional and creative impact on the show’s cast and crew.

“It has been an unbelievable challenge,” co-creator Evan Goldberg said in an interview with The Times, reflecting on continuing the series without her.

“We wrote it for her to be there. We had it all set, and the shock waves permeate throughout the entire new season.”

Rogen echoed the sentiment, noting that the show will not shy away from the loss. “We’re acknowledging the idea that we are a little anchorless,” he said.

“While we try not to dwell too much on heavy themes, they will be there in this second season. We are not ignoring it.”

Goldberg described O’Hara as the “anchor” of the series—an irreplaceable presence whose absence will be deeply felt both on-screen and behind the scenes.

Rogen also shared his admiration for the late actress, calling her both brilliant and kind.

“She really showed that you can be a genius and be kind, and one doesn’t have to come at the expense of the other,” he said.

O’Hara’s performance on The Studio earned her a posthumous award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

Rogen accepted the honor on her behalf, delivering an emotional tribute celebrating her talent and generosity.
