Donald Trump displays rare Queen Elizabeth portrait at Mar-a-Lago home

President Donald Trump has installed a rare portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II within his Florida residence, serving as a "permanent reminder" of the historic monarch.

According to Robert Hardman’s new biography, Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. The Inside Story, the painting occupies a prominent position in the dining room at Mar-a-Lago, situated above a depiction of a medieval ship.

The artwork is a reproduction of the final official portrait of the Queen, painted by Basia Kaczmarowska-Hamilton just four months before the sovereign's death in September 2022.

While the original remains at Windsor Castle, the artist provided Mr Trump with a reproduction to honour his admiration for the late head of state.

"She was so great. I wanted to hang her picture in a room where there is no one else on the wall," Trump reportedly told the biographer.

The former president has frequently expressed his reverence for the Queen, describing her as a "grand and beautiful lady" with a "wonderful sense of humour" following her passing.

Former advisor Fiona Hill previously noted that Mr Trump was "awestruck" by the monarch, viewing their meetings as a significant personal milestone.

Recently, details regarding this private tribute have highlighted the lasting impact of their diplomatic relationship.

This follows a poignant visit in September 2025, when Donald and Melania Trump spent time in reflection at the Queen’s burial site in St. George’s Chapel.

Mr Trump previously hosted the Queen during a 2019 state visit and is currently involved in various international political engagements.
