Expert reveals recipe for clean protein bars with seventeen grams per serving
Natalie Brady shares a cohesive dough recipe that requires no baking
Protein bars have become a ubiquitous snack for those with busy schedules, yet many commercial options are laden with preservatives and added sugars.
Natalie Brady, a holistic nutritionist specialising in metabolic health, recently addressed the potential harms of these ultra-processed ingredients.
In an Instagram video shared on Saturday, she urged consumers to stop wasting money on products containing gums and fillers.
"Make these instead!" she highlighted, offering a cleaner alternative that provides 17 grams of protein per slice.
Creating a nourishing snack at home allows for total control over additives that might otherwise cause bloating or puffiness. This recipe takes only ten minutes to prepare and focuses on whole-food components.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups almond meal (oat flour also works)
- ¼ cup vanilla protein powder
- Pinch of sea salt
- ¾ cup nut butter
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
Method
- Begin by lining a loaf tin with baking paper for easy removal.
- In a mixing bowl, combine almond meal, protein powder, and sea salt.
- Add nut butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract, mixing into a thick dough.
- Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips until evenly spread.
- Transfer the mixture to the tin and press down firmly to create an even layer.
- Place in the refrigerator for at least four hours, or ideally overnight.
- Slice into eight equal bars and store in the fridge or freezer.
By choosing these homemade varieties, individuals can support their fat loss goals while ensuring their snacks remain free from unnecessary chemical extras.
