The Dutch semiconductor giant ASML has revised its financial outlook upward, forecasting 2026 net sales between 36 billion euros and 40 billion euros.

This adjustment surpasses the previous estimate of 34 billion to 39 billion euros, reflecting a robust recovery in the global technology sector.

Chief Executive Christophe Fouque attributed this growth to sustained investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

"The semiconductor industry's growth outlook continues to solidify, driven by ongoing AI-related infrastructure investments," Fouque noted in an official press release, highlighting that demand for chips is currently outpacing supply.

As a primary supplier of the lithography tools required to manufacture advanced semiconductors, ASML is considered a vital bellwether for the industry.

The firm reported that 51% of its new tool sales in the first quarter were dedicated to memory production, a significant increase from 30% in the preceding period.

This surge is largely driven by South Korean manufacturers, such as Samsung and SK Hynix, who are expanding capacity to meet the needs of data centres.

Meanwhile, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) recently reported record revenues, further illustrating the strength of the AI-driven market.

Despite these gains, the company faces geopolitical challenges regarding its operations in China. Sales to the region dropped to 19% this quarter, down from 36% in December, due to tightening export restrictions.

Furthermore, a bipartisan group of US lawmakers has introduced legislation that could potentially ban the export of even less-advanced machinery.

ASML continues to monitor these legislative developments while fulfilling long-term agreements with customers in Taiwan and South Korea.
