'House of the Dragon' season 3 trailer teases power struggle and major twist
The teaser hints at rising tensions within House Targaryen
HBO has released the first trailer for season three of House of the Dragon, offering fans a dramatic preview of the next chapter in the Game of Thrones prequel.
The new footage, unveiled on April 27 across HBO’s social media platforms, hints at escalating conflict within House Targaryen as the battle for the Iron Throne intensifies.
The trailer opens with Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith, addressing Rhaenyra Targaryen, portrayed by Emma D'Arcy, with a chilling warning about the unprecedented power now in her hands.
“You now have the power no man has ever wielded,” Daemon tells her, signaling the growing stakes in the brutal civil war that continues to divide the ruling family.
The teaser suggests that the upcoming season will explore the devastating consequences of the Dance of the Dragons, the internal war that threatens to destroy the Targaryen dynasty from within.
Several returning cast members are also featured in the preview, including Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans and Ewan Mitchell, as familiar alliances appear ready to shift once again.
The eight-episode third season is scheduled to premiere on June 21 on HBO Max.
Set nearly 200 years before Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon chronicles the fall of House Targaryen and the bloody struggle that reshaped Westeros.
