Ariana Grande confirms ‘Petal’ album for July 31 release

Ariana Grande has announced that her upcoming album is titled Petal and it's scheduled to be released on July 31.

The artist used her social media platforms to unveil the cover art of her new album, showing her smiling contentedly with her hair draped over her face.

“A thing filled with vitality, emerging from the midst of something cold, hard, and challenging,” reads the album's description in the announcement.

Grande's eighth studio effort will be available through Republic Records, with Grande and Ilya Salmanzadeh serving as executive producers and co-writers.

Ilya also posted the album's artwork on Instagram, to which the singer responded with a smiley face.

Grande has been hinting at her musical comeback after her 2024 album Eternal Sunshine. Recently, she has been focusing on acting projects like Wicked, Focker-In-Law, and American Horror Story Season 13, which are slated for release this year.

“Music is undoubtedly a lasting part of my journey,” she shared with The New York Times regarding her musical future. “I must reassure my fans reading this who might be in shock.”

Grande's last tour occurred in 2019, and she has since been pondering her career in pop music.

“Something in my connection with pop music felt broken but was recently mended during my time off,” she explained.

Grande dedicated her break to filming the Wicked movies under Jon M. Chu's direction, where she portrays Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo. The sequel, Wicked: For Good, is expected to debut on November 21.

“I think things took a turn I didn’t foresee,” Grande said with tears in her eyes. “There’s an element to realizing your dreams that can sometimes feel risky.”
