Cheryl Burke says she may never date again after embracing single life

Cheryl Burke has opened up about her dating life, says she is content focusing on herself after her divorce, revealing she is unsure whether she ever wants to date again—but is not completely closing the door on love.

The Dancing with the Stars alum, 41, opened up about her personal life in a recent interview with Us Weekly, where she said she is currently “dating herself” and prioritizing her own well-being.

“I am dating myself, and so far it’s going too good,” Burke said. “I don’t know if I ever want to be dating again, to be quite honest, but if it happens, so be it. I’m not searching, that’s for sure.”

Burke, who divorced actor Matthew Lawrence in 2022 after nearly three years of marriage, said she has embraced single life and personal growth in the years since.

She added that she has no interest in using dating apps, joking that constant phone use already takes up enough of her attention.

“I don’t even know what that is,” she said. “If I put a dating app on my phone, you’ll never get my eyes ever. I’ll turn cross-eyed.”

Since her divorce, Burke has also spoken openly about choosing celibacy, saying she has remained committed to that decision for her own sense of self-respect and emotional clarity.

“I’m still going strong,” she said. “It’s absolutely been a good decision just for my own self-respect and life for myself.”

The former Dance Moms personality said the period following her divorce has been one of reflection and personal rebuilding, allowing her to focus on herself without pressure or expectations.

She previously shared that stepping away from dating has given her space to grow emotionally and professionally.

“I think I definitely have a lot of growing and evolving to do,” Burke said in a past interview. “I feel at peace, at ease, and I’m just excited. I feel like I’ve been a reborn human being.”
