The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a series of intimate photographs and videos to celebrate the hundredth birthday of Sir David Attenborough on 8 May 2026.

In a heartfelt tribute posted to their official Instagram page, Prince William and Kate Middleton described the legendary broadcaster and conservationist as "a national treasure and an inspiration to us all."

The collection captured the profound bond between the naturalist and three generations of the Royal Family.

A central highlight of the celebration was a charming video featuring the royal children. Prince George asked a poignant question regarding the future of the planet, enquiring, "What animal do you think become extinct next?"

Responding with characteristic optimism, Sir David replied, "Let's hope there won't be any." The interaction continued with Princess Charlotte revealing her love for spiders, prompting Sir David to warmly remark, "I love spiders, I am so glad you like them too! I think they are wonderful things."

Even the youngest, Prince Louis, joined the conversation, asking about the broadcaster's favourite animal. Sir David shared that "he likes monkeys best because they are such fun."

The tribute also included a nostalgic image of Prince William delivering a speech alongside the historian, highlighting their long-standing collaboration on environmental issues.

This milestone centenary has sparked a nationwide outpouring of affection for the man who brought the wonders of the natural world into British living rooms for decades. Sir David's storied career began at the BBC in the 1950s.
