Actress Ariel Winter and actor Luke Benward have confirmed they remain on good terms following their breakup, with Winter emphasizing that their long-standing friendship has endured despite the end of their romantic relationship.

Winter, 28, and Benward, 31, split in August 2025 after nearly six years together, People confirmed.

While their romantic relationship has ended, the pair have continued to express mutual respect and affection for one another.

Responding to a People Instagram post about the split, Winter described Benward as “still one of my best friends,” adding that she remains a “big Luke fan” and continues to hold him in high regard.

“He's still one of my best friends, a great human being and a great pup coparent,” Winter wrote.

“Just because sometimes people aren't meant to be doesn't mean you don't still appreciate the time spent and retain the friendship you shared. Still a big Luke fan over here.”

A source close to the pair previously told PEOPLE that there is “tons of love still between them,” noting that the former couple ultimately realized they were “better as friends.”

The insider added that Winter continues to view Benward as “the best,” and that the two maintain a strong bond while sharing responsibility for their dogs.

Winter and Benward first began dating in late 2019 after years of friendship, with their relationship developing unexpectedly over time.

Winter later described the shift in a 2021 interview as surprising but ultimately positive, calling it “the biggest blessing” and referring to Benward as her “safe space.”

The former couple were last seen publicly together in July 2025 at a screening of their joint film Don’t Log Off, a project they both produced and starred in, which was created during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite their breakup, both continue to highlight their ongoing creative and personal connection, with Winter reiterating that their friendship remains intact even as their romantic chapter has closed.
