John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are keeping their priorities firmly grounded when it comes to balancing Hollywood careers and family life.

The couple, who have been married since 2010 and share two daughters, Hazel, 11, and Violet, 9, say their children remain at the centre of every major decision they make.

Speaking on CBS Mornings, Krasinski, 46, said the family’s approach to managing two demanding careers in Hollywood has always been simple: put the kids first.

“Honestly, the simple answer is ‘kids and family first,’” he said. “We always have done, luckily, a good job of doing one [movie] and then the next [one]. So one of us is always home with the kids.”

Krasinski added that when work requires travel, the family tries to stay together as much as possible, often bringing their daughters to filming locations around the world.

“We bring those kids wherever we’re shooting and wherever we can spend time with them,” he said.

“We shot all of this in New York, A Quiet Place is in New York, and Jack Ryan was over in London. They came over in London with us. It’s a circus! It’s a family circus!”

Despite both parents being major Hollywood names, Krasinski has previously admitted that their children are more impressed by Blunt’s career than his own.

He shared that his daughters view Blunt as “much cooler,” especially given her roles in films such as Mary Poppins Returns and Jungle Cruise.

Krasinski also revealed that their children played a small role in inspiring his 2024 animated film IF, which he wrote, directed, and produced.

He said the idea came from observing how children immerse themselves in imaginative worlds adults are often excluded from.

“I said to Emily, ‘That would make an amazing movie,’” he said, explaining how their family life influenced the creative concept.

The couple have also collaborated professionally in the past, most notably in the A Quiet Place film franchise, which became a major critical and commercial success while further strengthening their reputation as one of Hollywood’s most recognisable creative partnerships.

For Krasinski and Blunt, however, the message remains consistent: no matter how busy life in Hollywood becomes, family comes first.
