The same source added that Pitt took Cornell’s death “very hard,” describing it as a loss that felt similar to losing a family member.
“Brad trusted Chris on every level,” the insider said. “It was a friendship that was honest, loyal and sparked by a mutual understanding.”
Following Cornell’s passing, Pitt has reportedly made a consistent effort to stay present in the lives of his late friend’s children, with sources claiming that supporting others has become an important part of his personal recovery journey.
“A huge part of Brad’s sobriety journey over the last five or six years has been showing up for people, supporting them, and helping them step into the spotlight themselves,” one insider said.
The actor is said to find meaning in maintaining those relationships, with sources suggesting that being there for Cornell’s children has been “healing” amid ongoing personal challenges.
However, the reports come alongside continued claims of a strained relationship between Pitt and several of his own children, whom he shares with actress Angelina Jolie.
The couple’s children include Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne, with multiple outlets reporting that some of them have distanced themselves from Pitt in recent years.
Despite those reports, insiders insist that Pitt’s fatherly instincts remain unchanged, and that his efforts to support others reflect his broader approach to relationships and personal growth.
