Ariel Winter moves in with ‘Modern Family’ co-star Nolan Gould after Luke Benward split

Ariel Winter is leaning on her Modern Family family in real life, moving in with former co-star Nolan Gould following her split from actor Luke Benward.
The 28-year-old actress confirmed she and Benward quietly ended their long-term relationship after six years together, revealing that she had been living in Nashville since 2022 before the breakup.
Now back in Los Angeles more frequently, Winter says she has taken up a new living arrangement with Gould — who played her on-screen brother Luke Dunphy in the hit sitcom Modern Family.
“I rent a house with Nolan,” Winter told PEOPLE. “People ask me about a Modern Family reboot, but Nolan and I are real roommates now.”
She joked that their shared home life feels like an unofficial continuation of the show, saying, “It’s like we’re having our own little Modern Family reboot, but it’s just the two of us living together. So I see him every day.”
Winter added that their day-to-day dynamic often mirrors their on-screen chemistry, even in the most ordinary moments.
“When we sit there at night and we watch, like, Temptation Island together, it’s pretty hilarious,” she said, noting that they’ve even joked about turning their real-life setup into content because of how entertaining it can be.
The actress, who played Alex Dunphy on the ABC sitcom, has previously spoken about the strong bond she shares with her former castmates, including Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Nolan Gould.
Since the show ended in 2020, Winter has described the cast as feeling like “a real family,” saying it was difficult adjusting to life without their regular on-set reunions.
“It was weird knowing it would just be over, and I wouldn’t get to see everybody all the time anymore,” she said previously. “It was like, ‘Wait, we’re not going to be together on Monday?’”
Her close friendship with Gould, she added, made the transition easier, noting that they have remained best friends long after playing siblings on screen.
“He plays my little brother, and he and I are still best friends,” she said.
Winter’s new living arrangement comes shortly after she confirmed her breakup with Benward, addressing the split publicly in a social media comment where she emphasized that they remain on good terms.
“He’s still one of my best friends… just because sometimes people aren’t meant to be doesn’t mean you don’t still appreciate the time spent,” she wrote, adding that they continue to co-parent their dog and remain supportive of each other.
