Jeff Probst accidentally spoiled a key moment during the live Survivor 50 finale broadcast on May 20, revealing the outcome of a fire-making challenge before it was officially shown on air.

The longtime host, 64, appeared to misstep while introducing the segment, prematurely announcing that contestant Rizo Velovic had lost the challenge and become the final member of the jury.

“Camp life is also about firemaking,” Probst said during the live broadcast. “Rizo, you’ve become the final member of our jury. Take a spot over here.”

The moment immediately caused confusion among contestants and production staff, as the fire-making challenge had not yet been aired. Castaways quickly corrected the situation live, telling Probst the segment had not occurred yet.

“What just happened?” Probst asked on air as the confusion unfolded around him. “I’m not even sure what’s happened,” he added before the broadcast briefly cut to a commercial break.

When the show returned, Probst addressed the mistake directly, acknowledging the unusual live-TV mishap and explaining how the structure of the finale segment led to the confusion.

“We were going to show you fire-making… Instead, we did a Survivor twist,” he told the audience, adding that the unaired pre-taped segment would still be shown.

He then guided viewers into the delayed footage, which revealed the outcome of the challenge as originally intended.

The incident quickly drew attention on social media, with viewers reacting in real time to the unexpected spoiler, while others joked that the mistake underscored the risks of live broadcasting.

Despite the on-air blunder, Probst continued hosting the finale, moving forward with the broadcast after clarifying the situation and introducing the pre-recorded segment.
