Brooke Shields opens up about past romance with John F. Kennedy Jr.
The actress reflects on brief 1980s connection with JFK Jr. during Aspen ski trip
Brooke Shields has spoken candidly about her past relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr., revealing that while the pair “dated” in the late 1980s, their romance never became physical.
The 60-year-old actress shared the details during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, revisiting a brief connection that began after the two met on a skiing trip in Aspen, Colorado.
“I didn’t have a love story, I had a crazy, crazy crush,” Shields said. “We dated but I never slept with him so I don’t know if that counts… He was lovely to me.”
Shields clarified that while there was mutual interest, the relationship remained short-lived and largely innocent in nature, describing Kennedy as “down to earth and funny and irreverent.”
The actress also revealed she recently watched a dramatized portrayal of Kennedy’s life and relationship with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in the Ryan Murphy series Love Story, saying she appreciated the performances and followed the series from start to finish.
“I loved it. I thought the acting was amazing,” she said.
Shields previously shared that her daughter, Rowan Henchy, worked on the production and informed her that her name was referenced in the series, a moment Shields described as “a little weird” but accurate.
In earlier interviews, Shields has also recalled a brief kiss with Kennedy, describing him as charming and memorable, though she admitted she held back emotionally due to fear of being hurt.
Kennedy later married Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and the couple tragically died in a plane crash in 1999 along with her sister Lauren Bessette.
