Stewart McLean, known for his recent appearance on Virgin River, is now believed to be the victim of a homicide after being reported missing earlier this month, Canadian authorities have said.

The Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed McLean was reported missing on May 18 after he was last seen on May 15 at his residence in Lions Bay, British Columbia.

In a statement, police said that following an investigation into his disappearance, officers uncovered evidence that has led them to believe McLean was the victim of a homicide.

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the case.

McLean’s disappearance had initially prompted a missing person investigation, but the case has since shifted into a suspected homicide inquiry as investigators continue to gather information.

McLean recently appeared in a 2026 episode of the Netflix series Virgin River, where he played a barfly in the British Columbia–filmed drama.

His screen credits also include roles in Murder in a Small Town, Happy Face, and The CW’s Arrow. In addition to acting, he also worked as a producer.

Police have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
