Miley Cyrus reveals she now focuses on slowing down and living in the moment
The singer explained she was never 'shocked' by the transition into global stardom
Miley Cyrus has reflected on her upbringing in the entertainment industry, saying her early exposure to fame helped her remain grounded as her career evolved in Hollywood.
Speaking in a recent interview with Variety, the 33-year-old singer said being surrounded by the entertainment world from a young age made the transition into global stardom feel natural rather than overwhelming.
“Because I grew up around my dad, being on tours and being on sets, it felt really natural to me. I never felt like a fish out of water,” she said.
Cyrus explained that her early experiences with fame shaped how she views the industry, adding that she was never “shocked” by the sudden changes that came with success.
“People were really shocked about that, like, ‘When you got to Los Angeles, was your mind blown?’… I was less enamoured by the whole thing,” she noted.
“It kept me more grounded. It wasn’t shocking when the show came out, and my life changed.”
The Hannah Montana star also spoke about how her approach to work and decision-making has shifted in recent years, saying she now prioritizes presence and balance over constant output.
“I would say: Be present enough to remember,” Cyrus said. “Sometimes I was moving so fast, and I was always calculating what my next step was, and I wasn’t in the moment.
Now, I make such clear decisions on what I’m going to do, and I do so little at a time, so I’m able to be in the moment for each thing.”
She added that she now makes a conscious effort to mentally “record” meaningful moments in her life, including both personal experiences and major career milestones.
