Diana Ross distances herself from new Michael Jackson biopic ‘Michael’
The biopic has sparked attention for its portrayal of Michael Jackson’s life
Diana Ross has reportedly broken her silence on the new biopic about her longtime friend Michael Jackson, revealing that she has no intention of watching the film.
According to sources cited by Radar Online, the Motown legend has distanced herself from the recently released biopic Michael, which explores the life and legacy of the King of Pop.
“Diana has zero interest in seeing it – absolutely none,” one insider claimed, adding that Ross feels she already experienced Jackson’s story firsthand.
“She lived that story in real time. She doesn’t need Hollywood rewriting it for her,” the source further stated.
The report also suggests that Ross’s absence from any involvement in the project is intentional, with insiders describing her silence as significant.
“When someone as central to Michael’s life is cut from the film, it tells you everything,” another source said, hinting at deeper sensitivities surrounding the production.
Ross and Jackson shared one of the most closely documented friendships in music history, with their relationship spanning more than four decades.
Their bond began in the Motown era, when Jackson rose to fame as a child star under the guidance of the Jackson 5, while Ross was already an established global artist and mentor figure.
Jackson, widely known as the King of Pop, died on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50, leaving behind a legacy that continues to be revisited in documentaries and films.
The new biopic Michael has drawn global attention, featuring Jackson’s real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson, in the lead role as part of its portrayal of his life and career.
