Ellie Goulding confirms return to music after three-year album break
The singer has confirmed she is preparing her sixth studio album after a multi-year break
Ellie Goulding has confirmed she is ending her music hiatus and preparing to release her sixth studio album, marking her first full-length project since 2023.
The 39-year-old pop star, known for hits including Love Me Like You Do, has been working quietly in the studio in recent years and has now revealed that new music is expected “soon.”
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column, Goulding said she has been collaborating closely with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Rochon, whom she discovered on TikTok while he was still relatively unknown.
She said Rochon has since moved to Los Angeles and gone on to work with major artists, including Beyoncé, adding that their creative connection developed naturally over time.
“I immediately connected with what he was doing creatively,” Goulding said, explaining that she has always enjoyed supporting emerging talent and new voices in music.
The singer revealed that she and Rochon have recorded “hundreds of songs” together, describing the process as free-flowing and experimental.
“It felt really organic and honest, like journaling through music,” she said, reflecting on the creative direction of the upcoming project.
Goulding recently previewed new material at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sunderland, where she debuted a track titled Black Prada Dress.
She described the song as exploring internal conflict and self-criticism rather than a single life experience, saying it focuses on the “negative, critical voice” that people often struggle with internally.
With her upcoming sixth album in development, Goulding’s return signals a new creative era foll
