Jon Voight is reportedly making a last-ditch effort to repair his long-fractured relationship with his daughter, Angelina Jolie, before she departs Los Angeles for good.

According to insiders, Jolie is said to be making preparations to relocate overseas once her youngest children — twins Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt — reach adulthood.

Barely speaking for years

A source close to the situation told Radar Online, "Jon and Angelina barely speak or see each other these days. It's been that way for many years now but it's not for lack of effort on his part."

The insider added, "He still checks in with birthday and holiday messages, asking about the kids and praying that one day they'll be able to put their differences aside and spend quality time together."

A reconciliation undone

The pair had previously managed to patch up their differences, but the relationship broke down once more after Voight made public comments about Jolie and her children.

Sources say she severed contact again "after he spoke to the press about her and her children, which proves how seriously she protects her privacy."

Political tensions add to the divide

Beyond personal grievances, the father and daughter are also said to be deeply at odds over their contrasting political views.

Sources noted that "he's a proud supporter of President Donald Trump as well as a staunch defender of Israel," whilst Jolie holds firmly liberal views.

The ideological gulf between the two is understood to have added further strain to an already fraught relationship.

Voight's heartbreak over the grandchildren

The estrangement has also meant that Voight has been largely absent from the lives of Jolie's children. "It breaks his heart that he hasn't built a meaningful relationship with the grandkids, but more than anything, he misses Angie desperately and so this move is hitting him hard," a source revealed.

A final plea

With Jolie's departure increasingly imminent, Voight is said to be urging her to grant him one final meeting. "He's pleading with her to see him one last time before fleeing Hollywood," the source said, adding, "He gets that she's sick to death of the rat race and ready for new pastures."

What Voight allegedly struggles to accept, however, is the emotional distance his daughter continues to maintain. Insiders claim he cannot understand why Jolie is "being so coldhearted toward her poor old dad."
