Actor Nick Pasqual, known for roles on How I Met Your Mother and Archive 81 and who later worked as a producer on the comedy series National Day Riff, has been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison for the 2024 stabbing of Hollywood makeup artist and former girlfriend Allie Shehorn.

Shehorn, who was stabbed more than 20 times yet survived the attack, has credits on productions including Mean Girls, Babylon, and Rebel Moon.

The conviction

Pasqual, 36, was found guilty last month by a jury on multiple counts: attempted murder, forcible rape, first-degree burglary, and injuring a spouse or partner.

The jury additionally upheld special allegations that he inflicted great bodily injury on the victim under circumstances involving domestic violence, and determined that he personally used a knife during the crime, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

He was sentenced on Tuesday at the San Fernando Courthouse for the multiple felonies, which covered the period from January to May 2024. Shehorn testified against him during the trial.

The attack

According to authorities, Pasqual broke into Shehorn's home in Sunland at around 4:30 a.m. on 23 May 2024 and stabbed her more than 20 times before fleeing.

He was later detained at a border checkpoint in Texas. Shehorn reportedly required emergency surgery in the immediate aftermath and spent several days recovering in intensive care.

District Attorney responds

District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman issued a statement following the sentencing, commending Shehorn's fortitude throughout the proceedings.

"Today's 32 years to life sentence holds Nick Pasqual accountable for the horrific crimes he committed against someone who once loved and trusted him," he said.

"Allie Shehorn miraculously survived and courageously stood before her abuser in court to testify about the brutality she endured.

"Her trial testimony was crucial in securing a guilty verdict so Mr. Pasqual could no longer be free to hurt anyone else."

Hochman also reflected on the wider message of the case. At the sentencing hearing, Shehorn "gave a powerful victim impact statement.

This case underscores the painful reality that domestic violence thrives when its victims live in fear and stay silent. It can erupt into life-threatening violence, and far too many victims never get the chance to see their abusers brought to justice," he added.
