Princess Catherine shares a moving message after her emotional visit to 'The Christie'
Princess of Wales said healing is about so much more than treatment alone after visiting 'The Christie'
Princess Catherine, the wife of Prince William, paid a deeply emotional visit to a leading cancer centre on Thursday, afterwards sharing a personal and moving reflection on what she witnessed and experienced there.
The Princess of Wales took to the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales to express her thoughts following the visit, signing off the post with her initial "C" for Catherine.
A visit that left a lasting impression
Catherine opened her message with words of gratitude directed at all those she encountered during the visit.
"Thank you to everyone at The Christie for such a moving visit today," she wrote.
She went on to describe the profound effect of meeting those connected to the centre.
"Meeting patients, families and staff was a powerful reminder that healing is about so much more than treatment alone," she added.
A deeply personal perspective on cancer
The Princess, who has herself been on a cancer journey, wrote with particular depth about the far-reaching impact of a diagnosis — extending well beyond its physical dimension.
"A cancer diagnosis affects every part of life, in mind, body and the deeper part of ourselves. The way we process fear, uncertainty and change is deeply personal," she noted.
Praise for The Christie's holistic approach
Catherine also took the opportunity to highlight the centre's dedication to caring for patients as whole individuals, commending its wide-ranging support services.
"The Christie's commitment to holistic care, from art therapy and wellbeing spaces to emotional and spiritual support, helps people navigate not only illness, but the profound impact it can have on quality of life," she wrote.
She went on to emphasise the importance of placing the patient at the heart of every aspect of their care.
"These services empower patients to play an active role in their recovery and wellbeing, reminding us that care should always be centred on the whole person," the Princess added.
A closing tribute to staff and patients
Catherine concluded her message with warm words for everyone she had met throughout the day.
"Thank you for sharing your stories with me, and for the compassion, creativity and dedication shown every day across the hospital," she wrote.
