Princess Anne made a subtle but striking sustainable fashion statement over the weekend as she attended her son Peter Phillips’ wedding, recycling a hat she first wore more than four decades ago.

The Princess Royal, 75, arrived at All Saints’ Church in Kemble, England, on June 6 for the wedding of her son Peter Phillips to Harriet Sperling, wearing a yellow hat that royal watchers noted she previously donned in 1981.

At the time, the same headpiece was worn for the christening of her daughter Zara, marking a 45-year gap between appearances for the accessory.

Princess Anne paired the vintage hat with a coordinated yellow outfit, continuing her long-standing preference for practical, repeat-wear royal fashion.

She completed the look with navy gloves, a matching handbag, and an umbrella suited for the rainy British weather.

The appearance reinforced the Princess Royal’s reputation for wardrobe longevity, with Anne frequently rewearing clothing across decades of royal engagements and public appearances.

Princess Anne has long been regarded as one of the hardest-working members of the royal family and is known for maintaining a highly practical approach to both duty and dress.

The wedding itself marked a significant family occasion, with Peter Phillips marrying nurse Harriet Sperling in a ceremony attended by senior members of the royal family, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The couple became engaged in 2025 after first being linked in 2024, and their ceremony brought together family and friends in the Cotswolds for a formal yet intimate celebration.

Following the church service, Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, hosted a reception at Gatcombe Park, their Gloucestershire residence, where guests gathered to celebrate the newlyweds.

The event also featured a strong family presence, with Peter’s daughters Savannah and Isla, along with Harriet’s daughter Georgina, serving as bridesmaids during the ceremony.

Anne’s choice of a decades-old accessory added a symbolic touch to the occasion, underscoring her long-standing reputation for understated style and continuity within the royal family.
