Sophie Turner has reflected on the challenges of her 20s, revealing that she experienced a “mini breakdown” during the decade and is now embracing life in her 30s with a renewed sense of optimism.

The actress, who recently turned 30, admitted that she and many of her longtime friends are relieved to have moved beyond what she described as a turbulent period in their lives.

Speaking in a recent interview, Turner said her close-knit group of school friends has spent the past year celebrating milestone birthdays while looking ahead to a more settled chapter.

According to Turner, each member of the group faced personal struggles during their 20s, but they now feel more positive about the future. She acknowledged being ready to leave that decade behind and start anew.

The actress also opened up about the identity challenges she faced after the conclusion of the hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, which launched her career when she was just 13 years old.

Turner portrayed Sansa Stark for eight seasons and said parting with the role left her questioning her own identity.

She explained that growing up alongside the character blurred the lines between herself and Sansa, making it difficult to separate her personal identity from the role that had defined much of her adolescence and early adulthood.

The transition after the series ended in 2019, she said, was particularly challenging.

Turner is now focused on her next major project, a television adaptation of the popular Tomb Raider franchise, in which she takes on the role of Lara Croft.

She described the iconic adventurer as vastly different from her own personality, noting that Croft’s determination and focus stand in contrast to her own self-described tendency to worry and become distracted.

Despite her commitment to acting, Turner dismissed the idea of fully immersing herself in a character through method acting.

The actress, who shares daughters Willa and Delphine with former husband Joe Jonas, said parenthood makes it impossible to remain in character away from the set.

Quoting a remark she admires from Kristen Stewart, Turner joked that mothers do not have the luxury of staying in character when they still have to return home and care for their children.
