Amjad Islam Amjad received Pakistani prestigious award 'Tamgh-e-Imtiaz' in 1999

Amjad Islam Amjad, renowned poet and drama writer, passed away in Lahore. The veteran poet died of a heart attack, confirmed by his family.
The 78-year-old actor suffered a cardiac arrest today morning and he was rushed to a hospital where he breathed his last.
Amjad was born in August and is one of the best-known Urdu poets. He was honored with many national and international awards. He received ‘Pride of Performance’ in 1998 and ‘Sitara-e-Imtiaz’ and Tamgh-e-Imtiaz in 1999.
Waaris, Samandar, Waqt, Dehleez, Raat, and Apne Log were some of Amjad's popular screenplays.
Apart from being a poet and playwright, Amjad was also an educationist, columnist, and literary critic par excellence.
