Alex Cooper is opening up about the emotional turning point that led her to start a family, after previously putting her plans for motherhood on hold to focus on her career and relationship.

On the latest episode of her Call Her Daddy podcast, the 31-year-old media personality reflected on her journey toward pregnancy with husband Matt Kaplan, sharing that the decision came after a period of personal growth and intentional pauses in their life plans.

Cooper previously revealed in 2025 that she and Kaplan decided to delay trying for a baby following their 2024 wedding, saying she realized at the time that she was not emotionally ready for motherhood.

“I decided actually, wait, no, I’m not ready at all,” she said, explaining that the couple mutually agreed to pause their family plans so she could focus on her relationship, work, and personal development.

Nearly two years later, Cooper said she began to feel a shift as she and Kaplan achieved personal and professional goals together and strengthened their foundation as a couple.

“And as more and more time went on and we traveled and we accomplished certain goals we had set for ourselves, your girl started to get the itch,” she shared, recalling a conversation with Kaplan where she realized she was ready for the next chapter.

Cooper described the moment as deeply emotional, saying she felt a sense of calm and certainty when she voiced her desire to start a family.

“I have never felt more ready,” she said, adding that the decision felt unified between her and Kaplan, making the transition feel natural rather than sudden.

She credited her husband as a major reason she felt prepared for motherhood, noting that their strong partnership gave her confidence entering this new phase of life.

“There was no big obvious change in my life. I could just feel it,” she said, adding that she believes readiness for parenthood is not something that can ever be perfectly timed.

Cooper also reflected on her earlier years, saying she valued the freedom and experiences of her 20s, which she believes helped shape her into the person she is today.

The podcast host announced her pregnancy in May 2026, sharing the news with fans via social media alongside photos of her baby bump.
