Jennifer Garner believes her upcoming series The Five Star Weekend captures the reality of women’s lives, saying that by midlife, everyone has experienced moments that shape who they become.

The 53-year-old actress stars in the project, which follows a group of women who come together for a bonding trip while carrying their own personal struggles, heartbreak, and emotional challenges.

Garner, who shares three children with ex-husband Ben Affleck, explained that the show feels relatable because it explores the complicated experiences many women face over time.

“By the time you’re in the middle of your life, some things have gone down,” Garner told Emmy magazine.

She added that the characters arrive with their own pain and grief, but the friendship between them creates space for honesty and healing.

“They all show up with hurt and grief. And in the privacy and the messiness of just sitting in each other’s stew of sisterhood, there’s room for all of it to come out and be explored,” she said.

Garner is joined in the series by Chloe Sevigny, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, and D’Arcy Carden, with the cast members sharing that their connection off-screen made the filming experience special.

Garner praised the group’s bond, saying it was easy to talk about the show because they genuinely enjoyed working together.

Gemma Chan described the experience as “a dream,” while D’Arcy Carden called working with the cast a life-changing moment.

Regina Hall said building friendships among the cast did not feel like work, and Chloe Sevigny added that the group’s connection was something special.

Behind the scenes, Garner also took on the role of executive producer and helped create a warm atmosphere on set, often arranging food and coffee trucks for the crew. She also continued a personal tradition by baking her homemade blueberry buckle coffee cake.

The actress previously opened up about how major life changes affected her career following her split from Affleck in 2015, explaining that motherhood and family challenges led to a period where she worked much less.

“When my kids were little, I worked so little, and then we had such an upheaval in our family, that I really hardly worked for a long time,” Garner said.
