Drake has lost a $1 million bet after backing Conor McGregor to beat Max Holloway at UFC 329 on Saturday. It was McGregor's first UFC fight in five years, but he sustained a leg injury at the very beginning of Round 1, forcing the referee to wave off the fight.

Ahead of the match, Drake took to social media to publicly back McGregor with both his support and his money. "THE MAC IS BACK?!?!?? The proper twelve drinking, tailored suit wearing, Lambo Yacht riding man with the Dubai tan that once had both belts in both hands...Say less," he wrote.

Due to McGregor's injury, the official result saw Holloway win the fight in just 69 seconds.

McGregor reacts to shock loss

Following the fight, McGregor shared his reaction on social media. "I was so sharp and so ready for this fight I cannot believe what has happened. The talk of me being off while walking in to the fight is nonsense. I was calm, ready, and confident. I am in shock what has taken place. The devil is literally staring at me right in front of my face here. I am not engaging. I will be at church tomorrow. I will overcome this. I will not be deterred. I will return," he wrote. Had McGregor won the fight, Drake would have pocketed just under $3 million.

Drake's bet loss follows major album release

The bet comes shortly after Drake surprised fans by releasing three albums simultaneously, titled ICEMAN (the rap-heavy centrepiece), HABIBTI (an R&B project), and MAID OF HONOUR (an experimental record). The 40-song megadrop marked his first major solo release since his 2024 feud with Kendrick Lamar.

Lead album ICEMAN moved 463,000 equivalent album units in its first week, making it the biggest opening week of 2026 for an R&B/Hip-Hop record. During the same debut week on the Billboard Hot 100, Drake charted 42 songs simultaneously, with nine of those tracks claiming spots in the top 10 alone, led by the hit Janice STFU at number one.
