Britney Spears has revealed that reading fiction is one of her favourite ways to "escape realities," sharing a reflective social media post about imagination, mythology and the mysteries of the world.
The 44-year-old singer said she has long been fascinated by subjects such as vampires, ghosts, mermaids and the unexplored depths of the ocean, admitting those are the stories that capture her attention the most.
"I'm a dreamer," Spears wrote on Instagram. "I've read millions of books about it in fiction but it's fun to escape realities."
The pop star described reading as a gift that allows her to become completely immersed in fictional characters and emotions, saying she loves getting so absorbed in a book that she can hardly put it down.
Spears also revealed she is currently reading a novel that reminds her of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, though she admitted the story has been slower than expected.
The reflective post comes days after Spears addressed concern over viral footage showing her standing through the moonroof of an SUV on a Los Angeles freeway, later insisting on Instagram that "nothing is what it seems" regarding the incident.
