Prince Harry asked King Charles' chef to teach him how to cook

Prince Harry's interest in cooking went beyond simply enjoying meals, with a former royal chef revealing that the Duke of Sussex once asked to be taught how to prepare food himself.

Visen Aneynden, who previously served as head chef at King Charles' Highgrove estate, recalled that Harry was genuinely eager to learn culinary skills and often volunteered to help in the kitchen.

Speaking to Heart Bingo Online, Aneynden said the prince frequently asked if he could learn to cook and showed a particular interest in preparing fish dishes.

"Harry actually asked me to teach him to cook! Harry was always interested in learning how to cook. He was genuinely keen on it and would often ask to get involved," he said.

"He'd happily go and cook something like breakfast if you let him. He was always saying things like, 'Can I learn how to cook that?'"

The former chef described Harry as hands-on and enthusiastic, adding that he enjoyed being shown new techniques and was determined to perfect recipes, especially seafood dishes.

Aneynden also shared a story that reflected Harry's willingness to take responsibility. After a late-night flour fight with friends, the prince insisted on cleaning the kitchen himself despite the chef offering to do it.

"He wasn't bratty," Aneynden recalled. "I remember one morning waking up to find him cleaning the kitchen on his knees."

"He'd had a flour fight with his mates the night before. I told him I'd clean it all up but he insisted he did it himself and even said he'd help prepare any food that had been accidentally ruined."

The chef added that Harry was "very considerate, even if he'd done something a little naughty."

Reflecting on his time working with the royal family, Aneynden said both Harry and Prince William treated staff with kindness, although their personalities were noticeably different.

"They're both lovely. Very different. Harry was boisterous whereas William was more calm. They both had a great sense of humour and were great with the staff," he said.

According to Aneynden, the brothers also had different tastes from their father, King Charles, preferring bolder flavours and spicier dishes.

Among his fondest memories was preparing Eggs Benedict for Prince William and Prince Harry on the morning of William's 2011 wedding to Catherine, Princess of Wales.

The chef recalled that William appeared relaxed before the ceremony, while Harry kept spirits high by making jokes to help his older brother stay at ease.

Aneynden also praised Catherine, describing her as "lovely" and "down to earth," and said she regularly stopped by the kitchen to chat with staff and adapted naturally to royal life.
