Former Miss Universe Jamaica contestant and actress LaToya Malcolm has died at the age of 35, the Miss Universe Jamaica organisation announced in a heartfelt social media tribute.
The organisation confirmed the news on July 18, remembering Malcolm as a valued member of its pageant family.
Miss Universe Jamaica pays tribute
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Universe Jamaica alumna LaToya Malcolm, who proudly competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica Competition," the organisation wrote on Instagram.
"Our heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends and loved ones. Rest peacefully, LaToya. You will never be forgotten."
No cause of death was disclosed.
Beauty queen, actress and dance instructor
Malcolm competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica pageant before winning the Miss Jamaica Bikini International 2024 title.
Beyond pageantry, she built a career as a Jamaican-based actress, entertainer and dance instructor, with more than a decade of experience in the entertainment industry.
She was also involved with the Transition Project, an initiative focused on providing training and resources to help young people navigate new opportunities.
Dedicated her pageant win to late father
After winning the Miss Jamaica Bikini International crown, Malcolm revealed she had continued competing despite grieving the loss of her father earlier that year.
In a social media tribute, she dedicated the victory to him, writing that she hoped he was "smiling down" on her from heaven.
