'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer becomes Disney's biggest ever launch
Marvel's first trailer draws 503 million views in its first 24 hours
Marvel Studios' first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has become Disney's biggest movie trailer launch ever, attracting 503 million views within its first 24 hours.
The debut ranks as the second-largest movie trailer launch in history, behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which generated 719 million views during the same period.
Trailer sets new Disney record
Marvel released the official trailer on July 20 ahead of the studio's expected Comic-Con presentation, where Avengers: Doomsday is set to feature prominently.
The 503 million views surpassed Disney's previous record held by the Deadpool & Wolverine Super Bowl teaser, which generated 365 million views.
Advance ticket sales off to strong start
The trailer launch coincided with the start of advance ticket sales, with the film earning $16.5 million in pre-sales on its first day.
Premium format screenings for the opening days in December have reportedly sold out in many locations, prompting cinemas to add more showings over the Christmas period.
According to Disney, first-day ticket sales are running at twice the pace of Deadpool & Wolverine.
Marvel's biggest crossover since 'Endgame'
The trailer teases the first major Avengers team-up since 2019's Avengers: Endgame, bringing together the Avengers and X-Men against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom.
The cast includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Patrick Stewart, Letitia Wright and Channing Tatum.
Avengers: Doomsday, the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is scheduled to open in cinemas on Dec. 18.
