Family members of late actor Chadwick Boseman filed a lawsuit on July 17, 2026, in Los Angeles against his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, seeking her removal as administrator of his estate.
Page Six reported on Tuesday that the late star's older brothers, Derrick Boseman and Kevin Boseman, submitted the legal filing on behalf of their parents, Leroy Boseman and Carolyn Boseman. The suit requests that the court remove Ledward from her role and order her to immediately hand over long-overdue financial assets to the couple.
Court documents state that Ledward failed to distribute the actor's estate, which contains more than $3.8 million in cash and assets, despite a judicial order issued in 2022. Ledward inherited 50% of the estate, while Leroy Boseman and Carolyn Boseman were designated to receive 25% each. Court papers argue that Ledward has maintained unilateral control for nearly four years, denying the family closure and input regarding their interests.
The filing further alleges that Ledward failed to provide a full accounting of all assets, including image rights, intellectual property, real property, an undisclosed bank account, and SAG-AFTRA residuals dating from 2020 onward. The brothers claim these intellectual property rights are managed through Chadwick Boseman, Inc., an entity controlled entirely by Ledward, allowing her to profit from his fame while blocking business opportunities for his elderly parents. They stated her lack of transparency creates the appearance that she is concealing assets from the family and the court.
Boseman died from colon cancer at the age of 43 on August 28, 2020, without leaving a will. Legal representatives for Ledward and the Boseman brothers did not immediately comment on the matter.
