Former Love Island star Chris Hughes is planning to propose to American YouTube personality JoJo Siwa over a year after meeting on Celebrity Big Brother.
The Sun reported that the 33-year-old television personality intends to organise a spontaneous proposal for 23-year-old Siwa, despite the couple currently residing hundreds of miles apart. Hughes lives in the United Kingdom while Siwa is based in California, but the presenter explained that the long distance only strengthens their relationship. He noted that spending time apart makes their reunions feel refreshing, comparing the dynamic to absence making the heart grow fonder.
During their visits, the couple enjoys relaxing away from the public eye. When Hughes travels to Siwa's residence in Palm Springs, California, the pair plays golf daily. When Siwa visits the United Kingdom, she enjoys home-cooked meals, drinks Yorkshire Tea, and visits Hughes's horse. Hughes praised Siwa for how she handles her fame, which she built after appearing on Dance Moms and has a reported £15 million net worth from music, television, and business ventures.
The couple faced initial public scepticism, accusing them of faking their romance after Siwa split from Australian influencer Kath Ebbs following the live final of Celebrity Big Brother. Hughes refuted those claims, stating that he knew immediately upon meeting Siwa that he wanted her to be his girlfriend. He added that both of their families have formed close bonds, with Siwa receiving approval from his parents, Valerie and Paul.
Alongside his marriage plans, Hughes revealed a desire to start a family with Siwa to mirror his own large family background. He praised Siwa's maturity and credited her with supporting his mental health during periods of stress and anxiety. Hughes, who served on the ITV Racing team from 2019 to 2025, also confirmed he will be in the United Kingdom between 22 August and 31 August to fulfil his duties as an ambassador for National Racehorse Week.
