Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Zahara takes the next legal step to drop Pitt from her name

Zahara Jolie-Pitt moves forward with the official process to legally drop her father's surname

Zahara Jolie-Pitt is taking the next mandatory step in California's legal process to officially change her name. After filing to remove her father Brad Pitt's surname back in June, the 21-year-old Spelman College graduate has published a notice of her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal. Under California state law, this notice must run in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks to allow any potential objections before a final court hearing can take place.

Zahara is petitioning to legally change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. Her decision follows in the footsteps of her younger sister, Shiloh, who also took legal action to drop "Pitt" from her surname. With Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's highly publicized divorce finalized in 2024, their children continue to make independent decisions regarding their legal identities and futures.
