Austin Butler expressed his eagerness to take on a new challenge following his involvement in the highly anticipated series Masters of the Air.

While conversing with PEOPLE duringMasters of the Air premiere at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles, the Dune: Part 2 star revealed his enthusiasm for flying as he said, “I would love to.”

Butler developed a keen interest in aviation during the production of the Apple TV+ miniseries centred around U.S. Air Force pilots navigating perilous missions behind enemy lines in World War II.

This series, featuring co-stars Callum Turner and Anthony Boyle, sparked the Elvis actor's fascination with aviation.

Butler, 32, mentioned the flying expertise he acquired while working on the set, “I'm rusty now but I feel like I could.”

“He approaches everything with such care and kindness and he does so much research and is just constantly reading about this period,” Butler said about Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg who worked on the miniseries as executive producers.

He added, “It's a pleasure working with him, whether he's in front of the camera or behind.”

It is pertinent to mention that in Masters of the Air, Austin Butler assumed the role of Major Gale Cleven, also known as Buck, a pilot within the 100th Bomb Group of the U.S. Air Force.

This renowned unit, nicknamed the Bloody Hundredth, played a crucial role in undertaking perilous bombing missions over Nazi Germany.

The recently released trailer on December 6 provides a glimpse into the series, capturing both the dramatic action and emotional resonance.

In addition to Butler, Keoghan, and Turner, the series also includes appearances by Sawyer Spielberg, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa.

The initial two episodes of Masters of the Air are set to debut on Apple TV+ on January 24, 2024.
